Coach Interview
Talk about your playing career and football accomplishments and football teams you played for?
I started my football career during my grade 12 year at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. I went on to play for the Okanagan Sun, where I won numerous Defensive Back awards and, was named a Team Captain. During my junior football career I had the opportunity to play in a Canadian Junior Football League national championship game. I finished my playing career with the Calgary Dinos.
What is your coaching background and any coaching clinics or development courses you have taken?
I have always enjoyed coaching and started as a STARS and Steve Nash basketball coach for young kids. I worked at numerous sports camps with the University of Lethbridge summer programs. I was the defensive coordinator and the defensive backs coach with the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute football program. While at LCI, I participated in the Perry Pumas program and travelled to coaching clinics in Arizona.
I have also had the privilege to be part of the IRONWILL coaching staff for over five years.
Why do you enjoy coaching football?
Coaching allows me the chance to give back to a sport that has changed my life.
What is one thing players should know about you as a coach?
I am a very technical coach who takes pride in coaching the fundamentals of the defensive back positions. I enjoy coaching grassroots football because I know I have a part in developing the football foundation for young players to be successful.
Beside being a great football coach, are there any other skills you hope to develop in the athletes you coach at the IRONWILL FOOTBALL Camps?
I hope that you can develop great life skills like working for a common goal. I also hope that you can find value in hard work and that persistence pays off when you believe in yourself. Don’t give up on your goals.
